Financial Journalist and Career Mentor

Hi, I am Yulianna, and I help financial journalists write their own life story.

For two decades, I’ve worked in confidential, market-moving journalism in London, writing about bond issuers across emerging markets.

I also advised high-net worth individuals, governments, and businesses on strategic messaging during pivotal transactions.

Experimented with PR. Worked in-house for the largest diamond producer in the world. Became a mum. Went back to financial journalism. Led an editorial team and loved every minute of it.

Along the way, I had my doubts, my fears of failing and being ridiculed for my career experiments. But looking back, I’ve managed to write my own story by learning to embrace change as an opportunity — and it has served me well.

Coaching and mentorship allows me to work with journalists — my favourite people in the world! — on a more personal level, helping them build lives that feel right, not just look right. We are so used to writing stories about others, but what about your own?

More things about me:

  • I spent the first six years of my life on a secret army base in Mongolia.
  • I’ve been told I have the voice of a therapist and the mindset of a Navy SEAL.
  • I can read a room before a single word is spoken.
  • I’m just as comfortable in a boardroom as I am on a hippy beach in Ibiza.
  • I believe the best conversations happen over great coffee, great wine or great silence.
  • Even the thickest-skinned people feel safe enough to show their vulnerability with me.
  • I’m highly intuitive and believe in magic, where magic is the result of our thoughts, words, and actions aligning.
  • I’m coached daily by my own daughter.
  • I never lose my cool… unless I’m forced to skip a meal.
  • I’m planning to give a TEDx talk and write a book — both before I turn 45.
